HEARTWARMING STORY OF SURVIVAL AND REUNION - PIPER

On May 6, 2012, we coordinated a rescue flight to Maine for 7 dogs, including two from one of our rescue partners, A New Leash on Life in Wake Forest, NC.  At one of the transfer stops, Piper, a 5-year old Jack Russell Terrier, spooked at a noise and bolted, pulling her leash out of the handler's hands and escaping into the woods surrounding the airport.  It took 10 days before she was spotted, and 12 days for rescuers to get their hands on her.  Long story short - Piper is now back home in NC and will not be going anywhere, anytime soon!  Thanks to pilot Terry Friedman, rescuer Cyndi Albujar, and all of the volunteers who tirelessly searched for Piper in New Jersey.

What We Do. . .

We operate a "placement sanctuary", where animals taken into our Rescue receive the care, attention and behavioral modifications, if any, that are needed to make them more appealing and, therefore, more adoptable.  Our Ranch Residents remain with us until they have found their permanent homes, or until they have lived out their natural lives.  We are a "no-kill" facility, and are proud to be associated with Johnston County Animal Services.

 Our primary goal is to rescue dogs  from local animal control shelters and to get them ready to be adopted into permanent loving homes.  All of our dogs come from shelters.  Our space is limited, so unfortunately, we cannot accept private surrenders. 

We also promote spay/neuter of your companion animals to eliminate unwanted litters and reduce the burden on shelters and on rescues.  Thanks to the wonderful veterinarians at the Saving Lives Spay/Neuter Clinic at the SPCA of Wake for their cooperation in working with area rescue groups to provide low/cost spay/neuter services.
